Examination of Earth's geological evolution: its record of change and processes influencing its evolution. Study of the lithosphere, in particular the continental crust. Processes by which crust is made and recycled, and ways in which the lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere have interacted throuigh time. Changing styles of crustal evolution from the Archean to the present, and the way that these changes are expressed in the rock record.
 
Prerequisites
  EPSc 201, 352, and 441; or permission of the Graduate Advisor
 
Schedule
  Two class hours and one three-hour recitation period a week
