Outcrop
near Marquette, MI, containing metamorphosed peridotite pillow
lavas as part of a 2.7- billion-year-old greenstone belt within
the Marquette Synclinorium. Note the rounded surfaces of the
pillows point toward “up” (left side of the picture).
The outcrop was visited during an October field trip for EPSC
505, Advanced Physical Geology taught by Dr.
Robert Buchwaldt.
