A
nice neat old gneiss. ~3.75-Gyr-old Amitsoq Gneiss from
the
type locality at Kanajorssuit, near Nuuk, West Greenland.
This sample was collected in 1973 by Project Oldstone
sponsored
by Caltech, and is on display as a "touchstone"
at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Its twin
can be seen in our E&PS museum. Note Swiss army knife
for scale.
