Emergency Procedures
from "Washington University Hilltop Campus Building Emergency Plan" of 8/99

Fire:  Immediate building evacuation is required when the fire alarm sounds.  If time permits, close windows and doors and leave by nearest exit.  Walk quickly to Assembly Area noted below and remain there until "all clear" received or further instructions are provided.  Refer to floor diagram for locations of exits, fire alarms, and fire extinguishers.

Tornado:  In the event of a Tornado Warning, proceed immediately to the lowest level of the building and seek cover in interior rooms or halls  Remain until "all clear" is issued.

Earthquake:
Remain calm.  Do not attempt to leave building until shaking has stopped.  Get under desk or heavy table or brace yourself in narrow hallway or doorway.  Cover head with arms, books, or other items to protect yourself from falling objects.  When shaking stops, evacuate building by nearest safe route.  Report to assembly area and wait for further instructions.

Assembly Area: If building evacuation becomes necessary for any reason, use nearest safe exit and report to the Assembly Area designated for this building.
